Ford Explorer digital instrument cluster
As the lead designer for the 12" digital instrument cluster on the Ford Explorer, it was important for me to capture the spirit of adventure and outdoors, where I spend a lot of my personal weekends. As an example, the dimensionality of the gauge design captures the ruggedness of the vehicle, while the drive mode animations showcase the actual terrains the vehicle can tackle in the real world. Explorer cluster design was deemed very successful and was later adopted on Ford Escape, Puma and other vehicles across the brand. I spearheaded use of applying 3D to UI gauge designs which drove the design language of many cluster designs that followed. In addition, I created UI graphics and animations, and lead the internal design team to further develop the concepts. At the final stage, I worked directly with software implementation team to bring final production designs to life.
